Amtrak has a solution to social distancing on its trains: Get a roomette.
The passenger railroad is offering a two-for-one deal on its roomettes, its most compact private accommodation on long-distance trains.
A roomette includes two seats that convert into upper and lower sleeping berths. The space includes a large window and fresh towels and linens. A shared bathroom and shower are available in the car.
“During this time, more customers are selecting our private rooms and we are pleased that this promotion makes it easier for more people to try these unique accommodations for the first time,” said Roger Harris, executive vice president, chief marketing and revenue officer at Amtrak.

The compartment comes with other perks: A sleeping car attendant who provides turndown service and assistance with meals and luggage. Lounge access at major stations, complimentary meals and priority boarding are also included.
Pricing ranges from $193 for Chicago-Minneapolis to $416 for New York to Savannah, Georgia. The long-distance trains offering the special fares include the California Zephyr, Capitol Limited, Cardinal, City of New Orleans, Coast Starlight, Crescent, Empire Builder, Lake Shore Limited, Silver Service, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle.
